This Salaca, a special kind of tropical fruit produced at the village of SUWARU for the first time, and then popularized around the village, now has been well-known all over Indonesia.
We can find this fruit not only in Malang, but also in Surabaya, Mojokerto, Kediri, Jember, Gresik, Banyuwangi, and many other cities in East Java.

CUCAK IJO BIRD
CUCAK IJO BIRD
Cucak Ijo Bird is the mascot of Malang Regency. It belongs to the chloropsis sonnerati group. The bird has a beautiful voice. It lives in the foresh with small river in south Malang and another areas in Malang Regency.
THE DESCRIPTION OF CUCAK IJO BIRD IS:
· The father has a green colour.
· The male bird has a black colour from the face to the neck and black bill,
· The male bird has a black colour from the face to the neck and black bill, but the female one has a yellow colour and brown bill.
· A part of the wing has a blue colour.
· It has a long neck and black eyes ?
· It eats fruits and insects.
APPLE, FLORA IDENTITY OF MALANG REGENCY
pple tree in Indonesia (especially in Malang) began to be known about the year 1908 before Indonesia proclaimed the independence. The Ducth was the first people who broughtit, and rearched good areas for apple growing. Batu is one of them, and above all it is the most suitable. The first apple variety grown in Batu was Rome Beauty.
About 1969, after Indonesia got its independence, the "Banaran Garden Institution" found a new apple variety,namely Manalagi Apple. The man who found it is Mr. Surahmat Kusumo, a senior fruittracker from "Balai Penelitian Hortikultura Pasar Minggu" (Horticultural Research Institution Pasar Minggu) Jakarta. This new variety was from Gandon village, because this variety was not found in Holand and other parts of the world; so this variety was finally considered as an Indonesian Apple. And, because of its nice taste, this apple is called "Manalagi" (Javanese, means: give me more)

Taman Hutan Raya, that is more well-known as Cangar Tourist Object, is located at Tulungrejo village, the one belonging to Bumiaji Sub District - Batu, about one hour's drive to the northwest of Malang ( + 38 kms ). This tourist object, situated at the area among the mountains Welirang, Arjuna and Anjasmoro, has specially unique and fantastic panorama as well as fresh air. It also has special hot sulphuric springs that is never dry in all seasons. Every tourist who comes to visit this place can take a bath to remain the body fresh and healthy.

It is located in Kidal village. Tumpang Sub District, 24 kms away to the east from Malang. The height is 17m. but now it just 12 1/2 m. The temple base has a square shape. The door is on the west side.
Above the door. there is 'Kepala Kala" ( Head of Giant ) and lions. The temple was decorated with ornaments which depict Mahabharata story not in sequence

In this place, the visitors can also get good and peaceful impression from fishing, boating, skiing or just enjoying the beautiful panorama around the lake. This tourist object gives a special and peaceful impression, beautiful panorama of tea plantation. This plantation is situated at the area on the slope of Lawang Sub District. In this object, the visitors can watch the Mount Arjuna, belonging to prossesing of tea, from the leaves to the tea ready to drink. The location is reachable, 30 kms away to the north from Malang.

The Lahbako dance
The Lahbako dance is one of the unique traditional dances that describes the farmer’s process of planting and cultivating tobacco. Tobacco is one of the main export commodities of Jember besides coffee, rubber, terpentin and cocoa. Jember is not only famous for tobacco, but is also rich with its own unique traditional culture and the famous Lahbako dance. It is a typical welcome dance.
Gunung Gambir Tea Plantation, l
Gunung Gambir Tea Plantation, located at 48 km northeast of Jember, is a site remaining from the Dutch period. At 900 m above sea level, the Argopuro slope area has great potential for European exported beer tea. Tourists can see tea trees that were planted in 1918, 1923,and 1927 and can watch beer tea processing from picking to packaging. All visitors can all have a taste of tea and a walk through the plantation in the morning. To give more services, the company provides accommodation, tennis courts and a children’s swimming pool. Visitors can travel for 15 minutes from downtown Jember to reach Gunung Gambir Tea Plantation by public transportation, rental car or tax
Tancak waterfal
Tancak waterfall is located 16 km southwest of Jember. This is one of the highest waterfalls in the Jember Regency. Its height is 82 m and it produces water at the rate of 150 cubic meters per second. That makes this waterfall one of the most reliable and spectacular natural tourist objects. Around the waterfall area, the visitors can enjoy coffee agro tourism on Pasang Mountain. This place is often visited by foreign tourists. The visitors can get there by rental car in 30 minutes from downtown Jember.
Oleng Sibutong Swimming pool
Oleng Sibutong Swimming pool, 10 km northwest of Jember, is suitable for family recreation. According to local folk legend, there was once an eel without tail. The natives called this BUTONG (Madurese). This eel can be seen by people on certain days and it is said that bathing in the water and drinking it can keep one young. The visitors can get from downtown to Oleng Sibutong swimming pool by rental car or public transportation in about 20 minutes.
Bedadung Hill Panorama
This tourism object lies at the side of Bedadung River, a river in Jember. At this site, visitors and their family can ride water cycling boat, enjoy the swimming pool and other facilities for kids. Moreover, the destination is only a five minute ride from downtown. Another recreational activity that is available is fishing. To serve visitors, this tourist location has a small conference hall. Visitors can go reach this area by rental car or public transportation from the center of town.
